Abstract

In the world of education, teachers are the component that plays the most important role in the process of teaching and learning activities. To become a teacher, teachers need to have pedagogical, personality, social and professional competencies. Professional competence is very important for every teacher to have. Because in teaching a teacher must really master the material to be taught broadly and in depth. Therefore, teachers' professional competence must always be improved. As a leader of an educational institution, the headmaster has an important role in activities to increase teacher professional competence. a headmaster must create strategies in the form of policies and activity programs that must be followed by teachers, so that they are able to upgrade their teaching competencies, so that they become professional educators
