The Bugis people inherited the pangngaderreng value system—comprising ade’, bicara, rapang, wari’, and sara’ as a way of life that binds the individual to the community, nature, and God. Within this system lives the philosophy of 3S: sipakatau, sipakalebbi, and sipakainge, which remain practiced in Bugis social interaction today. This article aims to examine the concept of sipakainge (mutual reminding toward goodness) as an ethic of da’wah communication and to explore its function as a vehicle for internalizing Islamic values rooted in local wisdom. This study employs a descriptive-qualitative method with a library research approach; data were collected from literature on Bugis cultural anthropology, studies on Islamic communication ethics, and relevant academic documents, then analyzed descriptively and interpretively through comparative reading. The findings indicate that the principles embedded in sipakainge honesty, gentleness, propriety, and the preservation of dignity (siri’) of the person being reminded correspond closely with the Qur’anic principles of da’wah communication, namely qaulan sadidan, qaulan layyinan, qaulan ma’rufan, and qaulan balighan. Sipakainge plays a dual role in Bugis society: as a customary (ade’) mechanism of social control and as a cultural bridge that facilitates the acceptance of shariah (sara’) values without provoking resistance, since Islamic messages are conveyed through familiar and respected cultural idioms. The implication is that strengthening culturally rooted da’wah based on sipakainge can serve as a more dialogical and contextual strategy for internalizing Islamic values without displacing the local cultural identity of the Bugis people.
