Journal History

According to the Electronic ISSN (E-ISSN) registration issued by the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) through the BRIN ISSN system, Jurnal Ummul Qura: Jurnal Institut Pesantren Sunan Drajat (INSUD) Lamongan was first published in Volume 1, Number 1, in April 2017. Accordingly, based on the journal’s actual publication chronology, the journal should have been designated Volume 5 in 2021, rather than Volume 16.

Subsequently, under Decree No. 177/E/KPT/2024, dated October 15, 2024, Jurnal Ummul Qura: Jurnal Institut Pesantren Sunan Drajat (INSUD) Lamongan was awarded SINTA 5 accreditation, with an accreditation period of five (5) years. The decree specifies the accreditation period as covering Volume 16, Number 2 (2021) through Volume 21, Number 1 (2026).

However, following the assessor’s recommendations, the journal’s volume numbering needed to be reviewed and adjusted to reflect its actual publication chronology, given that the journal was first published as Volume 1, Number 1, in April 2017. Consequently, the volume numbers used in previous years needed to be reassessed to ensure consistency with the journal’s publication sequence. Based on this chronology, the 2021 issue should have been designated Volume 5 rather than Volume 16. Therefore, the original accreditation coverage, which was recorded as extending from Volume 16, Number 2 (2021) through Volume 21, Number 1 (2026), needed to be aligned with the corrected volume numbering. Based on the chronological sequence beginning in April 2017, the corresponding endpoint would be Volume 6, Number 1, in April 2026.

In response to the assessor’s recommendations, beginning in April 2025, Jurnal Ummul Qura: Jurnal Institut Pesantren Sunan Drajat (INSUD) Lamongan adopted revised volume numbering to reflect the journal’s publication sequence. The revised numbering began with Volume 9, Number 1 (Vol. 09 No. 1), followed by Volume 9, Number 2 (Vol. 09 No. 2), with subsequent issues continuing in accordance with the journal’s publication chronology.

Furthermore, in November 2025, the journal adopted a new and updated journal template as part of its ongoing efforts to improve editorial management and the presentation of scholarly articles. The new template was subsequently implemented in Volume 10, Number 1 (Vol. 10 No. 1), published in April 2026.

In conclusion, the adjustment to the journal’s volume numbering was undertaken to maintain consistency in its publication chronology, address the assessor’s recommendations, and align the journal’s publication records with its accreditation history. Nevertheless, any administrative adjustment to the officially recognized accreditation period must remain subject to the applicable regulations and formal confirmation from the competent accreditation authority.
