Authorship Criteria
Authorship Criteria
AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business adheres to the authorship principles established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These principles are applied to ensure transparency, accountability, and academic integrity in scholarly publications within the fields of Islamic economics, finance, management, and business.
An individual qualifies for authorship only if they meet all of the following criteria:
Substantial Contribution: Made a significant contribution to the conception or design of the research, or to the collection, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
Manuscript Preparation: Participated in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing its important intellectual content.
Final Approval: Reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before publication.
Accountability: Agreed to take responsibility for all aspects of the research, ensuring that any questions concerning the accuracy, originality, or integrity of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All individuals listed as authors must fulfil these four criteria. Contributors who do not meet all the requirements for authorship should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section. Such contributions may include financial support, technical assistance, data collection, administrative support, language editing, or general research supervision.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for managing communication between the authors and the Editorial Office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript and its final version.
Changes in Authorship
Any addition, removal, or change in the order of authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a clear written justification and written approval from all authors involved. Such requests must be submitted to the Editorial Office for consideration before the changes are implemented.
Authorship Misconduct
AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:
Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who have made substantial contributions and meet the authorship criteria.
Gift Authorship: Listing individuals as authors despite their failure to meet the required authorship criteria.
Guest Authorship: Including individuals as authors primarily because of their reputation, position, or institutional affiliation rather than their actual intellectual contributions.
All authors are expected to uphold the principles of academic honesty, transparency, and ethical responsibility. Any suspected authorship misconduct will be addressed in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidelines.
