Author Guidelines
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Islamic Economics and Business
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Authors are required to submit an ethical clearance statement, which can be downloaded from the official website of AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Islamic Economics and Business. These guidelines are not intended to serve as a manuscript template. Authors may use the manuscript template provided on the journal's website. Manuscripts that successfully complete the selection and review process and are deemed suitable for publication will be subject to a publication fee.
Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication in another journal. Each manuscript that successfully passes all stages of the editorial and review process and is accepted for publication in AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Islamic Economics and Business will be subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC). Authors whose manuscripts are submitted but do not successfully complete the editorial and review process through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform will not be required to pay any fees.
During the initial screening stage, the Editorial Office will evaluate the manuscript's compliance with the journal's formatting requirements and conduct a similarity assessment using iThenticate. Subsequently, manuscripts will be forwarded to peer reviewers for evaluation. The peer-review process follows a double-blind review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from one another.
The reviewers' evaluations will serve as the basis for determining whether a manuscript is accepted or rejected. Authors may consult the Editorial Board regarding the manuscript evaluation and publication process whenever necessary.
Manuscripts must comply with the author guidelines of AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Islamic Economics and Business and be prepared in Microsoft Word using the template available on the journal's website. Manuscript files must be submitted in Microsoft Word 97–2003 format (.doc), rather than .docx. All manuscripts must be submitted online through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform at: AL-MAQASHID Journal Submission (https://ejournal.unsuda.ac.id/index.php/Maqashid) Manuscripts must contain the following essential components, presented in the specified order:
1. Article Title
2. Author Name(s) (without academic titles or degrees)
3. Author Affiliation(s)
4. Abstracts in Indonesian and English, including Keywords
5. Introduction
6. Methods
7. Results and Discussion
8. Conclusion
9. Acknowledgements
10. References
Manuscripts may be written in either Indonesian or English and must be 10 pages in length, including all figures and tables. To maintain the journal's publication quality and visual consistency, authors must carefully observe the formatting requirements outlined below.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author must be identified with an asterisk (*) and their email address must be provided.
All manuscript revisions, editorial correspondence, and final publication decisions will be communicated exclusively to the corresponding author via email.
For manuscripts with multiple authors, all author names must be listed and separated by commas. Superscript numbers (1, 2, etc.) must be used to indicate different institutional affiliations.
Authors' first names must not be abbreviated. If an author has only one name, that name should appear as a single word in the manuscript. However, when completing the online submission metadata, the name must be entered twice to satisfy the system's requirement for two name fields.
MANUSCRIPT LAYOUT
The main body of the manuscript must be formatted in a single-column layout. To ensure consistent presentation and publication quality, all submissions must comply with the following specifications:
1. Paper size: A4 (21 cm × 29.7 cm).
2. Top margin: 4.0 cm on the first page, measured from the top edge of the paper to the first line of the article title. The top margin for the second and subsequent pages must be 3.0 cm.
3. Left, right, and bottom margins: 2.5 cm throughout the manuscript.
4. Header distance: 1.5 cm from the top edge of the paper.
5. Footer distance: 2.0 cm from the bottom edge of the paper.
6. Manuscript length: Exactly 10 pages.
7. The journal's author guidelines document has been formatted according to the recommended specifications and may be used as a reference for manuscript preparation.

The following font and paragraph formatting requirements must be observed:
a. Font type: Tahoma must be used for all text styles throughout the manuscript.
b. Font sizes:
Manuscript Element Font Size and Style

Author names (without academic titles or degrees) must appear immediately below the title, followed by institutional affiliations and the email address of the first author. All elements must be centre-aligned.
TITLE FORMATTING
Article Title
The article title must be concise, clear, and accurately reflect the research problem addressed in the manuscript.
The title must use title case, with the first letter of each major word capitalised, except for conjunctions and other minor words where appropriate.
Titles extending beyond two lines must be arranged in an inverted-pyramid format, with each successive line shorter than the preceding one. An example of the required format is provided on the first page of the journal's author guidelines.
Section Headings
Section headings must be written entirely in uppercase letters, using bold type without underlining.
All section headings must be centre-aligned and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.).
Subsection Headings
Subsection headings must be written in bold using title case, with an initial capital letter for each major word.
Subsection headings must be left-aligned without indentation and numbered according to their corresponding main sections.
For example:
1. INTRODUCTION
2. METHODS
2.1. Research Design
2.2. Data Collection Techniques
3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
FIGURES AND TABLES
All figures and tables included in the manuscript must be directly relevant to the research findings and discussion.
Figure and table captions must use a 10 pt bold font in title case and be centre-aligned.
Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in their respective categories.
Captions for figures must appear below the figures, whereas captions for tables must appear above the tables.
Captions extending beyond one line must be arranged in an inverted-pyramid format.
Figures
Only figures directly relevant to the manuscript's content may be included.
Figures must be centre-aligned and positioned as close as possible to the text in which they are first discussed.
Every figure, including photographs, graphs, charts, and diagrams, must have a descriptive caption and a consecutive figure number.
Figure captions must appear below the figure, be centre-aligned, and use a 10 pt bold font.
For example:

TABLES
Only tables that are directly relevant to the content of the manuscript may be included. Tables must be centre-aligned and positioned as close as possible to the text in which they are first referred to. Each table must have a descriptive title and be numbered consecutively. Table titles must appear above the tables, be centre-aligned, and use the same font specifications as figure captions, for example, "Table 1. Comparison of Population by District in 2010".
Each table must be explicitly referred to in the manuscript using its corresponding number, such as "Table 1". The font size used within tables may be adjusted as necessary to ensure readability. Where required, a narrower font, such as Arial Narrow, may be used. Only horizontal lines should be used in tables, as illustrated in the journal's manuscript template.
HEADER AND FOOTER FORMATTING
The header and footer formats provided in the journal's manuscript template may be used directly. For the first-page header and the footers on all pages, authors must replace the placeholder "[Journal Name]" with the name of the journal to which the manuscript is being submitted.
First-Page Header: The header on the first page must contain the journal title, the journal's copyright statement, and the journal issue number, which will be updated by the Editorial Office. The header must be written in Tahoma, 10 pt.
Even-Numbered Page Headers: Headers on even-numbered pages must contain the surnames of the manuscript's authors, written in Tahoma, 10 pt, and centre-aligned. If the manuscript has more than three authors, only the surname of the first author should be displayed, followed by et al.
Odd-Numbered Page Headers: Headers on odd-numbered pages must contain the article title in title case, with the initial letters of major words capitalised. The text must be written in Tahoma, 10 pt, and centre-aligned.
Footers: All pages of the manuscript must have a consistent footer format. Each footer must contain the text "[Journal Name]", followed by a dash and the page number, beginning with page 1 on the first page. The footer must be written in Tahoma, 10 pt. Page numbers will be updated by the Editorial Office during the publication process.
REFERENCES
Proper citation and referencing are essential requirements for maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism. All sources cited in the manuscript must be included in the reference list.
The reference list must contain at least 15 references, with sources published within the last 10 years. At least 80% of the total references must consist of primary sources from scientific journals published within the last 10 years. Authors should avoid citing popular media and non-academic websites, such as personal blogs, Wikipedia, and other non-scholarly sources.
Self-citations must account for less than 30% of the total references. Authors are encouraged to prepare their reference lists using reference management software, such as EndNote, where available, or the referencing tools provided in Microsoft Word. However, authors are responsible for independently verifying the accuracy and consistency of their reference lists, as reference management software may occasionally generate formatting errors.
The referencing style adopted by Jurnal Reka Lingkungan follows the American Psychological Association (APA), 6th Edition guidelines. References must be arranged alphabetically according to the surnames of the authors.
Whenever authors use data, ideas, or statements obtained from other sources, appropriate citations must be provided. In-text citations must follow the author–date system, for example, (Hartati & Sururi, 2019). For works written by more than two authors, only the surname of the first author should be followed by et al., for example, (Dirgawati et al., 2018; Shaleh, 2020).
All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and all entries in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript (Holomoan et al., 2018).
References must be formatted as follows.
