Post-Publication Discussion

Post-Publication Discussion

AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business is committed to promoting transparency, academic integrity, and constructive scholarly communication beyond the publication process. In accordance with the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the journal encourages post-publication discussions to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement of published scholarly works.

The journal recognises that academic publication is part of an ongoing scholarly dialogue. Authors, researchers, reviewers, and readers are encouraged to engage in constructive discussions, provide critical feedback, and raise concerns regarding articles published in the journal.

1. Objectives of Post-Publication Discussion

Post-publication discussion aims to:

Encourage constructive academic dialogue and critical evaluation of published research.

Promote transparency, accountability, and scholarly integrity.

Facilitate the clarification of research findings, methodologies, and interpretations.

Identify potential errors, inconsistencies, or ethical concerns in published articles.

Support the continuous development of knowledge in Islamic economics, finance, management, and business.

2. Forms of Post-Publication Discussion

The journal welcomes various forms of scholarly discussion, including:

Letters to the Editor: Formal academic correspondence addressing specific issues, findings, methodologies, or interpretations presented in published articles.

Scholarly Comments: Constructive observations, questions, or evidence-based critiques concerning published research.

Author Responses: Clarifications or responses provided by the original authors regarding comments or concerns raised by readers.

Research Integrity Concerns: Reports of potential errors, inaccuracies, plagiarism, data manipulation, or other ethical issues requiring editorial attention.

All discussions must be conducted professionally, respectfully, and in accordance with established academic and publication ethics standards.

3. Submission of Post-Publication Comments

Readers, researchers, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments or concerns to the Editorial Office through the journal's official communication channels.

Submissions should include:

The title, author(s), and publication details of the article being discussed, including its DOI or URL where available.

A clear description of the issue, question, or concern.

Relevant academic evidence, references, or supporting information.

The name and contact information of the individual submitting the comment.

A declaration of any potential conflicts of interest.

Comments must focus on the scholarly content of the published article rather than personal criticism of its authors.

4. Editorial Evaluation and Author Response

All post-publication comments will be evaluated by the Editorial Board to determine their relevance, academic validity, and potential implications for the published article.

When appropriate, the Editorial Board may forward substantive comments to the corresponding author of the original article and invite a formal response.

The Editorial Board may also seek independent expert opinions or additional supporting evidence when necessary.

The journal reserves the right to decline comments that contain personal attacks, defamatory statements, irrelevant arguments, unsupported allegations, or inappropriate language.

Where appropriate, accepted scholarly comments and author responses may be published or made accessible through the journal's official platform to promote transparent academic discussion.

5. Corrections and Retractions

If post-publication discussions reveal significant errors, inaccuracies, or ethical concerns, the Editorial Board will assess the matter in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidelines.

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the journal may take the following actions:

Correction: Issuing a formal correction when errors are identified that do not invalidate the overall research findings or conclusions.

Expression of Concern: Publishing a notice when serious concerns regarding a published article remain unresolved or require further investigation.

Retraction: Retracting an article when its findings are deemed unreliable due to significant errors, research misconduct, plagiarism, or other serious ethical violations.

All formal corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices will be clearly identified and linked to the original published article whenever technically possible.

6. Responsibilities of Authors and Readers

Authors are expected to respond professionally and transparently to legitimate academic questions or concerns regarding their published research.

Authors must cooperate with the Editorial Board when clarification, additional information, or supporting evidence is required.

Readers and researchers are encouraged to provide constructive, evidence-based feedback and report potential inaccuracies or ethical concerns through appropriate editorial channels.

All participants in post-publication discussions must respect intellectual property rights, confidentiality, academic freedom, and professional ethical standards.

7. Commitment to Publication Integrity

AL-MAQASHID: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business is committed to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the scholarly record.

Post-publication discussions will be handled fairly, objectively, and transparently, while protecting the legitimate interests and rights of all parties involved.
