Policy of Screening for Plagiarism

Screening for Plagiarism

Junela Conseils: Journal of Islamic Guidance and Counseling is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all manuscripts submitted for publication. Every manuscript submitted to the journal is subject to a plagiarism and similarity screening process before proceeding to the peer-review stage.

The plagiarism screening is conducted using appropriate plagiarism-detection software to identify similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously published works, including journal articles, books, conference proceedings, online publications, theses, dissertations, and other scholarly sources.

The screening process is conducted as follows:

1.     Initial Screening
Every submitted manuscript is checked for plagiarism and excessive similarity during the initial editorial assessment.

2.     Similarity Assessment
The editorial team evaluates the similarity report by considering the context of the identified similarities. Properly cited quotations, references, common terminology, methodological expressions, and other legitimate similarities may not necessarily constitute plagiarism.

3.     Manuscripts with Acceptable Similarity
Manuscripts with an acceptable level of similarity and no indication of plagiarism may proceed to the peer-review process.

4.     Manuscripts Requiring Revision
If the similarity report indicates inappropriate paraphrasing, inadequate citation, or excessive similarity, the manuscript may be returned to the author for revision and clarification before further consideration.

5.     Suspected Plagiarism
Manuscripts containing substantial evidence of plagiarism, including unattributed copying, duplicate publication, or substantial reproduction of another author's work, may be rejected. Where necessary, the editorial team may conduct further investigation in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy.

6.     Post-Publication Concerns
If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified after publication, the journal may take appropriate action, including issuing a correction, publishing a retraction, or removing the article from the journal's publication record when warranted.

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and that all ideas, statements, data, quotations, and materials derived from other sources are properly acknowledged and cited.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, direct copying without appropriate attribution, inappropriate paraphrasing, duplicate or redundant publication, self-plagiarism, and the unauthorized use of another person's ideas, data, or intellectual work.

The journal emphasizes that a similarity score alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Each similarity report is evaluated contextually by the editorial team to ensure a fair and responsible assessment.

Through this policy, Junela Conseils is committed to upholding academic integrity, originality, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing.
